How Much Does a Wedding in Spain Cost?

Real 2026 numbers: average price, cost per guest, destination budgets and where to save.

How Much Does a Wedding in Spain Cost?

A wedding in Spain costs around €25,183 on average in 2026, excluding the honeymoon and the ring, or roughly €225 per guest nationally. Catering ranges from about €50 per guest in the Canary Islands to €180 in Barcelona or Madrid. Most destination weddings for 50 to 80 guests fall between €15,000 and €35,000, while luxury villa weddings in Ibiza or Mallorca can exceed €60,000.

1. The short answer

On average, the cost of a wedding in Spain sits around these figures in 2026:

  • €25,183: average total wedding cost.
  • ~€225: national average per guest.
  • 8%: share of the budget that goes to photo and video.

That average excludes the honeymoon and the ring. Your final number can be well below or above it depending on the choices we look at next.

2. What drives the cost

The single biggest factor in the wedding in Spain cost is the number of guests, because catering scales with every head. Region matters too. Here is the typical per-guest catering range:

Region Per guest
Canary Islands €50–80
Valencia / Murcia €79–100
Andalusia €90–130
Barcelona / Madrid €100–180

A typical budget breaks down as roughly 53% venue and catering, 10% attire and beauty, 8% photography and video, 6% flowers and decor, and 5% music. The rest goes on smaller lines such as stationery, transport, favours and the officiant.

Other things that move the total: the day of the week (Saturdays cost more), the month (high summer on the coast and islands is the most expensive), and how exclusive the venue is. A venue that hosts only one wedding a day, or that you book for the whole weekend, costs more than one that shares its spaces.

3. Destination weddings in Spain

For couples travelling in, most destination weddings in Spain range from €15,000 to €35,000 for a typical 50 to 80 guest celebration. Smaller elopements cost far less, while luxury villa weddings in Ibiza or Mallorca can exceed €60,000. If you are looking at the islands, my page as a wedding videographer in Mallorca shows the kind of settings at that end of the range.

Good to know: southern regions like Murcia, Valencia and Andalusia offer the same Mediterranean light and beautiful venues as the pricier hotspots, at a noticeably lower per-guest cost. On the Costa Blanca, for example, you can see my work as a wedding videographer in Alicante, and my list of the best Murcia wedding venues covers one of the best-value regions. Read more in my guide to a destination wedding in Spain.

Whatever your budget, the key is knowing where every euro brings the most value.

4. Costs couples often forget

Destination weddings come with a few lines that do not appear in the average figures above. None of them is large on its own, but together they add up. Ask about them early:

  • Supplier travel. Photographers, videographers, planners and musicians who come from another city or island usually add travel and accommodation.
  • Extra events. Many destination weddings include a welcome drink the night before or a brunch the morning after.
  • Your own trips. At least one scouting visit to see the venue and meet suppliers.
  • Legal paperwork. If you sign the legal marriage at home, there are registry fees there; if you marry in Spain, apostilles and translations have a cost.
  • Overtime. Spanish weddings run late. Check what the venue, the band and your filmmaker charge if the party goes on past the agreed time.
  • Weather plan B. A marquee or an indoor space held in reserve for an outdoor ceremony.

5. Where to save (and where not)

The smartest way to control the cost of your wedding in Spain is to shorten the guest list and choose an off-peak date (a Friday, or spring or autumn instead of high summer). You can also trim decor and stationery without anyone noticing.

Where I would not cut: the food (nobody should leave hungry) and the memories, meaning the photography and video. The day is over in hours, but those images last a lifetime. It is the one line of the budget you almost never hear a couple regret keeping.

6. How to build your budget, step by step

  1. Fix the total you are comfortable spending, with a reserve set aside for surprises.
  2. Agree the guest count. Multiply it by the per-guest range of your region to estimate venue and catering, your largest line.
  3. Split the rest using the percentages above as a starting point, then adjust to what matters most to you.
  4. Ask for itemised quotes from every supplier, with travel, taxes and overtime shown separately.
  5. Note the payment calendar. Most suppliers ask for a deposit to hold the date and the balance close to the wedding, so plan your cash flow over the 12 to 18 months of planning.

7. Getting the film right

Since photo and video are only around 8% of the average wedding in Spain cost, they are one of the highest-value investments you can make. Something I have learned filming weddings across Spain is that the images that move people do not come from the most expensive setup. They come from real light and real emotion, and from planning the day so the ceremony and portraits happen in good light.
